Diffusion and Training Activities

The overall goals of the training and diffusion activities are disseminating the new knowledge generated through the research activities, and, in more general terms, raising awareness on the importance of the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights in the knowledge-based economy.

They are directed to graduate and PhD students, scholars, practitioners from the industry and international organizations, policy makers.
The training and diffusion activities adopt an interdisciplinary approach which emphasizes the legal, economic, social and technological issues related to patent protection and management. They will be articulated in the organization of a series of seminars and lectures, a summer school, and a final conference.

Seminars and lecture
The Seminars and lectures aim to diffuse the findings of the research activities and to raise awareness on the value of patents among professionals and researchers.
They are lead by internationally renowned speakers coming from academia, industry, international bodies, and law and consulting firms.
The topics covered by the seminars and lectures will be related in general terms to the protection and valorization of IPRs. Particular attention will be given to issues related to the economic valuation of patents, in line with the research activities performed in the project.

Summer school
The Summer School (to be organized in 2008) aims to promote international research on economics and management of intellectual property.
It involves scholars from Universities and Industry, researchers, post-docs and Ph.D. students.

International conference
The International Conference on the valuation of patents, to be organized at the end of the project, will aimto disseminate the results of the research activities performed in the project and to compare the results of state-of-the art research on these issues.

The general objective of conference is to sensitizing researchers, practitioners and policy makers on the methodologies and tools for the economic valuation of patents, in order to foster innovation and the transfer of technology into valuable commercial application.
